Woke up in Memphis uncertain of how I'd arrived
A dirty motel
Interstate 55
The concierge knew me by name
Her smile mistrusting tempered and tame
As she passed me a bag made of plastic
This I opened to find something tragic
A syringe and a spoon
Implications of doom and a dirty t-shirt
Odor rancid
As I tried to escape something followed
There were three behind me plotting sorrow
I ducked in the bathroom trying to evade
But the darkness within made a home in the shade
As the walls were graffitied in shadows
The spirit of fiends in the gallows
Saw a janitor mopping beneath a dim light but she wouldn't get it clean tonight

The hallways unsettled and winding
A series of doors intertwining
The streets were as dark as the shining
No cabs to be found
No bars full of singles inquiring
Just me and the night and still something behind me
A bridge where the opposite side was closed
The water beneath me still flowed
Something approached and it wretched in my soul
I turned to confront it and stood toe to toe
With three blurry faces whom I did not know
One dressed up in leather
A jacket his chest was bare
Another his teeth and a stare
As blank as the name I had for him
The final one formed
A rubber band tied to his arm and my back to the bridge
What is this
The harm that they meant or resist
Resist

This one is pretty easy
Everyone is having crazy dreams right now
Their mind is trying to protect itself from everything that's going on
Your fear is about losing control
So what we need to answer is
How can you take control
